Here we are at JFK, waiting for our flight to start boarding. Check-in and TSA scanning were a breeze so we have plenty of time for a good breakfast and did a few last minute online things (like posting a credit card payment and moving funds from one account to another for easy ATM access in TZ).
I’m excited and a little hesitant at the same time. I think it’s the 12 1/2 hours we have to face on the first flight on a very full plane that has me thinking (do you REALLY want to do this?). But no matter. We’ll be flying on a nicely provisioned Jet (an Airbus A380 – the double decker plane!). They have electric power at every seat, so workaholics like me can keep the laptop buzzing as long as we like. The entertainment system onboard is also fabulous, so I’m sure I’ll catch up on some movies I missed in the theaters. Also, it’s always a joy for me, once we get to Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania. I’ve gotten used to the city. It’s aways nice when we get to the hotel, freshen up from the flights and have a good dinner together. And we have some fun things to do during the day on Monday. There are computer monitors and a printer to pick up from a local vendor and there is a very interesting Lebanese restaurant near our hotel that I’ve been interested in trying since I noticed it last year.
On Tuesday, we’ll have a very early morning flight out to Kigoma to meet up with our friends from DWT. But we’ll post more on that later. Blessings to you all.
